Statement of Intent
For my thriller series posters, I will make sure that
it complies with all the rules set out by the ASA. For example, I will not
contain anything in my advert that is likely to cause serious or widespread
offence to any audience, condone violence or anti-social behavior, or cause
fear or distress to audiences. This includes harmful messages against race,
age, gender or disability. This is highly important as the film posters will be
shown on large screens at bus stops, which will be viewed by a large range of
audiences of all social groups. This includes individuals who are not
necessarily part of the target demographic such as very young children, in
which they may feel the posters cause harm or are very distressing. This is why
I need to consider all demographics when designing my posters. The broadcast
time of my product will be after 9pm, as it is not suitable for a young
audience. However, on ITX, viewers can always stream the programme.
For the show to be highly successful with the audience, I must make sure that the programme is portrayed in a positive way so that they will be interested and engaged, to create a strong viewership. I intend on representing two different social groups, which in the case will be men and women. The show will explore a young, quiet girl who is tragically kidnapped by a mystery man when she was a child. I intend for the man to be included in the poster but be dark and mysterious, only showing a small part of his face. the girl will be bright and innocent to represent binary opposition.
The show will appeal to the target audience of 16–25-year-olds
by only featuring people who are apart of this age bracket on the posters. This
allows them to feel represented and recognized within the show which will
encourage members of this age range to watch it. I will also carefully consider layout, images,
color scheme, fonts, and taglines when making my posters to ensure they fit a
recurring house style.
